A new service recently launched which is aimed at helping independent musicians license their music online. You License gives musicians an opportunity to log in to the YL site, upload their music, and deal directly with would be advertisers and media companies. In essence, it gives musicians a chance to cut out the “middle man” that is usually filled by labels or management.

You License is not the first company to jump into this field and probably will not be the last. After browsing through the site I have to say that I love how easy and clean the design and access is. It appears that YL has gotten it right when it comes to accessibility for users. Let’s hope that this site really takes off and more independent musicians succeed as a result.

The Internet is certainly changing the landscape. This is a good thing for artists who would be locked out in the old days.
